Where the Chinese Crested actually originated is undoubtedly a mystery. Much speculation has been given to this question. It has been said that its history can date as far back as the thirteenth century.The breed is certainly a distinctive one, coming in two varieties, the "Hairless", reguiring minimal coat care, being careful not to sunburn the skin and  the "PowderPuff, reguiring a little more grooming but nothing like the heavliy coated breeds. Both the varieties come in many colors and markings.   The Crested's make wonderful companions and are a very devoted family dog. They do require socialization. It is therefore important to devote plenty of time to this intelligent breed.
